Trump launched Truth Social last February on the App Store as Google refused to list the app

Needing to find an alternative to Twitter to help him express his views, Trump launched Truth Social last February and seven months later it became the 25th most popular social media app on the App Store. The app, developed by Trump Media & Technology Group (the new Trump company founded last October) has been banned from listing on the Google Play Store due to Google’s policies that prohibit the listing of apps that contain violent content and incite violence.

A Google spokesperson said, “Apps may be distributed on Google Play provided they comply with our developer guidelines, including the requirement to actively moderate user-generated content and to remove objectionable posts such as those that incite violence.”

The ban on the inclusion of Truth Social on Android 44% of Americans are effectively blocked from seeing Trump’s posts on his own app. There were ways to get around the ban including using a browser app on Android to use the Truth Social website. Or by using a third-party app store, the Truth Social app can be downloaded on your Android phone. But now it appears that Truth Social can meet Google’s requirements for the Play Store listing.

The app can now be installed on Android devices via the Play Store from This list. But the question is whether this will matter to Trump at all. Billionaire Elon Musk is reportedly looking to close a $44 billion stock bid and $54.20 to buy Twitter, and he has said repeatedly that if he closes the deal, he will welcome Trump back on Twitter. However, Trump said that if Musk bought Twitter, he would not return to the platform.

On the Google Play Store, Truth Social wrote: “Truth Social is a great alternative to technology that encourages open, free and honest global conversation without discrimination against political ideology.
